An over- 700 hectare estate in the heart of Valdarno, the green valley of the River Arno, Il Borro’s fascinating one thousand years of history has been a succession of some of Italy and Europe’s most noble families. The estate includes a medieval village brought back to life by the enthusiasm and dedication of the Ferragamo family, which has made it a destination like no other in the world. A stay at Il Borro means experiencing Tuscany at its most authentic, where various types of luxury accommodation co-exist harmoniously with the life of a state of the art farming business that makes eco-sustainability its philosophy.
A suite in the medieval village, a villa surrounded by vineyards, or a country farmhouse. The real Tuscany is here at Il Borro, where you can choose whether to spend your holiday in luxury accommodation or something a little simpler, but without sacrificing comfort and the authenticity of our services.
A large part of the accommodation at Il Borro is in the medieval village, a Relais&Châteaux consisting of 35 exclusive suites, each with its own character and story to tell. Each one different from the other, they have little private gardens or balconies, and romantic, breathtaking views. Time stands still here to let you experience sheer enjoyment and relaxation.
In addition to luxurious Relais&Châteaux accommodation, Il Borro also offers 5 enchanting farmhouses run on agritourism lines. The inhabitants of Il Borro and its surroundings were called Borrigiani, and by renting one of the farmhouses - the ideal solution for families with children - you too can feel at home, in Tuscany.
A villa located off the Estate, just 20 minutes from the centre of Florence, with a 3,000 sq.m. garden and swimming pool; the perfect place to relax and enjoy the colours and scents of nature in complete privacy. Villa Marina is equipped with solar panels for a fully sustainable energy supply. A number of additional ad hoc services can be booked with Il Borro to make your stay even more enjoyable.
Under the leadership of Executive Chef, Il Borro offers a culinary experience that has its roots in Tuscan tradition, the use of prime local produce and modern interpretations of recipes from times gone by. Each of the estate’s two restaurants – Osteria del Borro and Il Borro Tuscan Bistro - offers a unique experience.
Love for this land means above all, respect. Renewable energy, the use of natural fertilizers and no pesticides – all practices here are oriented towards sustainability and respect for the life cycle of products and the land. This philosophy pervades all activities on the estate, creating a union between luxury hospitality and the life of a state of the art farming enterprise, and making it a truly unique place
Il Borro has been a wine farm since 1993, with 45 hectares planted with vines and 40 hectares of olive trees. We have done nothing more here than revitalize the land so that it repays us with its best fruits. 30 beehives located in the nature reserve give us totally organic varietal honey.
A visit to the Vino & Arte Gallery is a must for anyone wanting to know all about Il Borro, its fascinating history and restoration to its former glory. The tour that begins with the exhibition of Ferruccio Ferragamo’s unique private collection of engravings, continues in the Cellars, the heart and soul of the Estate.
The Ferragamo family reopened the doors of the workshops in the medieval village to local artisans, where guests can buy hand-made items such as pottery, gold jewellery, paintings, hats shoes and much more. The Bottega and the Boutique in the Corte area complete the exclusive shopping opportunities offered at Il Borro.
Test drives in a Ferrari, helicopter tours, thrilling hot-air balloon flights, and shopping tours to the main luxury outlets to delight any shopaholic can all be organized on request. Our staff is at your complete disposal to create unique, unrepeatable experiences to suit your preferences.
