A place like no other welcomes you

The allure
of a timeless place

Situated in the heart of Tuscany, Il Borro is a century-old hamlet surrounded by 1.100 hectares of organic land. Thanks to meticulous restoration that began in 1993 it has been restored to its former glory and now stands as the custodian of tradition, culture and sustainability and today speaks for the most elegant Tuscan hospitality.
The Estate

“A lasting
act of faith”

These are the words of Ferruccio Ferragamo when he purchased Il Borro in 1993; his intention was bring this forgotten place back to life and in so doing fully respect its history and culture. Today it is a perfect combination of the past, present, and the future. Restoration of the ancient hamlet has made it possible to preserve its authentic beauty and integrity. Anyone who visits Il Borro today will discover a place of a thousand souls where each stone has a story to tell.

A stay at Il Borro

Being at Il Borro is an experience that implies assimilating the most authentic Tuscany. The enhancement of the territory has embraced the infinite wealth of uses and traditions. Respect of the unique characteristics of this place form the foundation of our philosophy which aims to establish the most authentic ties with our guests.

Wine as the expression
of the territory

The soil and climate conditions, the mild winters and an excellent exposure of the vineyards make it possible to produce quality wines. Following an accurate study of terroir, in 1995 new vines were planted while the principles of organic agriculture were also applied to the preexisting vines. As of 2015 Il Borro became a fully organic agricultural estate and a promoter of sustainability. Today it produces 12 wines of the finest labels, 10 of which are organic.

Organic production

Dedication to hospitability has become a unparalled part of the life of an avant-garde agricultural estate which is committed each day to returning to Earth what man consumes, in keeping with a totally sustainable philosophy.
1.100 hectares based on organic production of which 85 set aside for wine making, 40 hectares of olive trees for the production of extra virgin olive oil, 3 hectares for seasonal vegetables, 272 hectares for arable land fodder and the remaining land for forestry.

Tuscan tastes
and flavors

At Il Borro, catering plays a central role and aims to appease even the most refined palates with a specific gastronomic fare of Tuscan specialties based on the “farm-to-table” concept. The Osteria del Borro offers a gourmet menu while a more traditional menu is available at Il Borro Tuscan Bistro. Since 2013 our entire catering proposal is under the supervision of the Executive Chef Andrea Campani.
